The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 km2 conservancy in Central Kenya’s Laikipia County. Situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to all of the Big Five. It is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, and sightings of both black and white rhino are common. Ol Pejeta is said to have the highest predator density in Kenya outside of the Maasai Mara; and there is a good chance of seeing lion, cheetah and hyena. Since 2011, there have also been sightings of African wild dog.

You will be picked up from pick up point and drive through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight.

Enjoy a game drive in the park where one could see reticulated giraffe, common, or Burchell’s, zebra, African elephant, Cape Buffalo, warthogs, Waterbucks, Jacksons Hartebeest, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Steinbok, Striped Hyena, Suni, Thomson’s Gazelle and Impala. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded including the Ostrich.
Lunch will be served at one of the lodges in the game Sanctuary then followed by a visit to a rhino homestead. A visit to Ol Pejeta conservancy would be in-complete without visiting the multi-cultural Manyatta. Situated just outside the Serat Gate of the Sweetwaters Game Reserve.
