Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by your professional safari guide.

Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. This park is known for its incredible population of elephants and iconic baobab trees.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive, with a focus on spotting herds of elephants and buffalo. The open grasslands also offer excellent opportunities to see lions.

Overnight at a tented camp or lodge near the park.

Spend a full day exploring Tarangire’s diverse habitats. The Tarangire River provides a vital water source, drawing in a high concentration of wildlife.

Focus on finding a pride of lions and a herd of buffalo. Your guide will also look for signs of leopards, though sightings here are less common.

After breakfast, head to the Serengeti. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word for “endless plains,” and it lives up to its name.

The journey into the park is a game drive in itself. You will travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with stunning views along the way.

Arrive at your camp in the central Seronera Valley, a prime location for big cat sightings.

Take an afternoon game drive, focusing on finding lions and the elusive leopard, which often rests in the large acacia trees.

Take an afternoon game drive, focusing on finding lions and the elusive leopard, which often rests in the large acacia trees.

Spend a full day on safari, tracking the Serengeti’s abundant wildlife. The park has a huge population of predators, so your guide will be on the lookout for a hunt.

Continue your search for the leopard, as well as the plains animals that make up the Big Five’s prey, such as wildebeest, zebra, and giraffes.

After a final early morning game drive in the Serengeti, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The journey offers spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley.

Overnight at a lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Rise early and descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. This massive caldera is a self-contained ecosystem with a high concentration of wildlife, making it the best place in Tanzania to find all of the Big Five in a single day.

The primary goal today is to find the critically endangered black rhinoceros. With fewer than 70 rhinos in the crater, your expert guide will use their knowledge and communication with other guides to locate them.

You will also see a large population of lions, elephants, and buffalo, with a good chance of spotting a leopard in the forests on the crater’s edge.

Enjoy a final leisurely breakfast at your lodge.

Your guide will drive you back to Arusha for your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your international departure.
