Escape into the wild on this 2-day Mt Longonot Hiking adventure, set in a dramatic volcanic landscape of the Great Rift Valley. You’ll trek through rugged scrubland, climb steep slopes and reach the crater rim of a majestic dormant volcano.
On day one, ascend the 3.1 km trail from the park entrance to the crater rim, a rewarding climb with 630 m elevation gain. Day two gives you the option to loop the full 7.2 km crater rim trail, circling the volcanic caldera and witnessing a sweeping 360° panorama over forested crater floor, distant lakes and Rift Valley peaks.
This two-day hike suits moderately fit travellers, offering a balance of adventure and ease. Simple camping or local lodge-based rest can follow the hike, giving you a brief yet memorable wilderness getaway, a perfect short escape for adventure-seekers.
Hike steep volcanic slopes 3.1 km to the crater rim for expansive views over the Great Rift Valley and distant lakes.

0900HRS: Departing the hotel and heading to mount longonot for a hike.
1300HRS: Picnic lunch
1600HRS: Departing from mount longonot back to the hotel.
